Updating Ownership Records After Sale

We sold part of our mineral rights earlier this year. The buyer says they’ve filed the deed transfer, but we’re still receiving correspondence from the operator addressed to us as the owners. How long does it usually take for records to update? Do I need to contact the operator directly to make sure they have the new owner’s information?

It took about 3 months for my operator to update records after a sale. I’d recommend sending them a copy of the deed yourself.

County records update first, then the operator updates their internal system — so there’s usually a lag.
