My family is in the process of transferring royalty interests from my late father’s estate in Weld County. We’ve received paperwork from the operator, but I’m unsure if additional filings need to be made at the county courthouse. Has anyone gone through this recently? Would appreciate guidance on what to double-check before finalizing.

You may also want to notify the operator directly with a certified copy of the probate documents. They sometimes move faster than the courthouse does.

I went through this last year. In my case, we had to file an Affidavit of Heirship at the Weld County Clerk’s office before the operator updated ownership records. It wasn’t complicated, but it did take about a month.
