Pool Unitization — Pros & Cons

Our operator is talking about forming a unit that will include my minerals along with several neighbors’. I understand this is called “unitization.” I’d like to know what the benefits and drawbacks are — especially when it comes to royalty payments. Has anyone here experienced unitization and can share what to expect?

Downside: you may get less than if your own well had been drilled, since royalties are spread across the unit.
